Five questions with the Barons' Tyler Pitlick

By Darnell Mayberry, Staff Writer, Published: November 15, 2011

What's it like to be one of the youngest guys on the team?

It's all right. I'm kind of used to it. I've kind of always been the younger guy on my teams growing up. In college, I was 17 sitting next to a lot of older guys than me. So it's not that different.

Do you feel like you have to prove yourself more being young in a league like this?

Yeah, just with it being my first year in the league I've got to show that I can play and play with older guys. So you definitely have to be ready every night and prove that you can play at this level.

The first thing that stands out about you is your speed. Have you always had that?

I don't know. I've never really been that fast. Once I get going I can be pretty fast and pretty good at turning quick. But I've never been the fastest guy. I don't think I'm that fast. I wouldn't say I'm the fastest guy.

What do you do for fun away from the ice?

I live with (Curtis) Hamilton. Me and him have been watching the “Friday Night Lights” series. Season one through five, we crushed it in about a week. We go out with the guys and try to get out of the house as much as possible. We checked out the outlet mall and the other malls, too. We're just trying to see what they got here.

What do you like to listen to? What gets you pumped up for the game?

I listen to a lot of hip-hop. That's kind of my thing. It's a lot of older guys on the team and they listen to different stuff than I do. But I always usually have my headphones on listening to the rap stuff more than anything. I really like Mac Miller and J. Cole. Those are my favorites right now.
