Flaming Lips to attempt world record for most live concerts in 24 hours

During the 24 hour live stream, 24 awards will be presented to winners.

Fans can vote now up until the show via OMusicAwards.com in a wide assortment of categories that include Must Follow Artist on Twitter, Best Online Concert Experience, Most Adorable Viral Star, Fan Army FTW, Best Music App and Digital Genius Award.

Nearly 10 million votes have been cast since voting kicked off on May 23.

During the show, cameras will follow the Lips on the bus, on the stage and everywhere in between, according to the press release. Tour stops include Memphis, Tenn., Clarksdale, Miss., Oxford, Miss., Jackson, Miss., Hattiesburg, Miss., Biloxi, Miss., Baton Rouge, La., and New Orleans.

The audience at home can watch from any screen and interact, influence and play a part in the voyage as the Oklahoma City band heads toward its final destination.

Album release

On June 26, the day before the show kicks off, The Flaming Lips will release their album “The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends” in CD and digital formats. The album, previously available only on limited edition vinyl as a Record Store Day release, features the Lips collaborating with such artists as Yoko Ono, Nick Cave, Bon Iver, Ke$ha and others. A new track recorded with Aaron Behrens of Ghostland Observatory is exclusive to the CD and digital versions.
