A man accused of shooting and killing another man last year was extradited from Florida to Oklahoma City this week.
Carrecus Davonte Hammond, 20, was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Thursday. He faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Lamont Williams, 24, in September.
Oklahoma City police said Williams was shot Sept. 24 in the parking lot of Windsong Village Apartments, 7255 S Walker Ave. After he was shot, Williams drove south on Walker Avenue and crashed into a truck. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
An arrest warrant for Hammond was issued in December. Master Sgt. Gary Knight, a spokesman for the Oklahoma City police department, said Hammond fled to Florida after the incident, and was arrested in Seminole County, Fla., in December.
Hammond served a previous sentence for the 2007 killing of Vinnie L. Broome, 17. Hammond pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder as a youthful offender. He was released in 2012.
