DURANGO, Colo. (AP) — Regis and Fort Lewis combined for three goals in 28 seconds in a 3-3 tie in women's soccer over the weekend.
The Durango Herald reports (http://bit.ly/Pgxd75 ) the flurry of goals in the final minute during Sunday's game included the tying goal kicked from midfield more than 50 yards away by Regis' Marissa Davis.
Fort Lewis led 2-1 before Regis' Sade Akindele scored with 56 seconds left with a kick from the far post. Fort Lewis answered the goal 20 seconds later with a score by Elena Benavides and a presumptive 3-2 win with 38 seconds left.
But Davis tied the score again shortly after the kickoff with her goal from midfield with 28 seconds left.
Both teams failed to score again in two overtimes.
