Grilled cheese contest set

The Sheraton Midwest City Hotel at the Reed Conference Center will host a family-friendly Made in Oklahoma Wine, Beer and Food Festival on Saturday, including the Great Grilled Cheese Challenge: Masterminds of Melt.

Participants are challenged to create and cook three original grilled cheese sandwiches in just 20 minutes. Participants’ sandwiches will be judged on presentation, taste, originality and style. The categories include Classic, Exceptional Okie, Midwest City Marvel and Salute to Sweetness. Participants may enter one or all of the categories. Prizes will be awarded in all categories, plus People’s Choice and Best in Show awards will be announced.

Festival doors open at 11 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Admission is free. Ten wine or beer tasting tokens with commemorative festival glassware will be available for $18. Standard registration fees will be charged to participate in the car show, Grilled Cheese Challenge, and Wine & Palette.

‘Nature in Art’ series to debut

The Nature Conservancy of Oklahoma will debut a five-part outdoor art series with an exhibition by local artist Paul Snyder at H&8th Night Market, from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday along Hudson Avenue between NW 6 and NW 9 streets in Midtown.

Food trucks confirmed are 2 Brothers Bistro, Adolini’s Pizzeria, Big O’s Spuds, Big Truck Tacos, Cafe Bella on Wheels, Chick N Wangs, Crepe Brewers, El Reno Original Fried Onion Burgers, Epic Pops, Frank’s Wurst, Green & Grilled, The Hall’s Pizza Kitchen, Huey’s Shave Ice,, Kaiteki Ramen, Kosmos BBQ, La Gumbo Ya Ya, Lalo’s I Love My Taco Chop & Grill, The Loaded Bowl, Mexiasian Fusion, Moto Chef, Off The Hook Seafood & More, Pagoda Pizza, Pie on the Fly, Purdy Q Mobile Smoke Pit, Roxy’s Ice Cream Social, The Saucee Sicilian, Smokin’ Okies, Tacos El Patron, Taste of Soul Chicken and Waffle, and Taste of Soul Eggroll.

The last two events have drawn about 20,000 people, making it among the largest food truck events in the U.S.

Elemental Coffee will serve coffee and tea, and COOP Ale Works will offer craft beer.

Ludivine will host its final demo of potential menu items for the new restaurant concept planned to open later this year at 320 NW 10 St. cost is $40 per person and seating is open.

The “Nature in Art” series will feature five nature-inspired exhibits by local artists ranging from photography to painting and hand-crafted pieces. Each exhibit will take place on NW 7 Street in front of the Nature Conservancy headquarters, 408 NW 7 St., during H&8th Night Market each month through September. The art will be available for auction, and 30 percent of proceeds will support the Nature Conservancy’s mission to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.
