For many Edmond seniors, facility is center of their activities

I am looking forward to the time in the future when I can finally retire.

No, I'm far from ready now, but I think I'll make a good senior citizen. I love learning new things, and with lots of time on my hands, I can try things I've always wanted to try.

You may not be thinking of retiring anytime soon, but it's nice to know there is a place in Edmond where seniors gather and live it up.

Edmond Senior Center hosts daily, monthly and special events for our elder, not necessarily elderly, residents.

They can take tap dance lessons, Jazzercise, do yoga, take woodcarving classes or join a quilting group.

As an example of the daily fun at the senior center, there is a Scrabble (seven letters) game each week.

For Scrabble aficionados (11 letters) it's all about counting (eight letters) and combinations (12 letters). It's a great way to keep the mind active (six letters).

The senior center also serves a nutritious lunch, and there are occasional special trips to interesting places.

There are daily volunteer opportunities available at Edmond Senior Center as well. This is a great place to share your talents with others by teaching a class, helping with the Senior Nutrition daily lunch program, going on special events and more.

If you haven't visited the senior center, I think you will be surprised at what a great place it is. Drop by sometime.

The senior center is at the west entrance to J.L. Mitch Park on Covell Road between Kelly and Santa Fe avenues at 2733 Marilyn Williams Drive.
