Can you tell a foreclosed home by looking? Maybe not.

From one extreme ...
Nasty, nasty carpet, big holes in the walls, broken window, cracks in the foundation, torn-up linoleum in the kitchen floor, some kind of gang symbol, maybe, scrawled on a bedroom ceiling — the place was a mess.

The 1,104-square-foot vinyl-sided house in southwest Oklahoma City, built in 1947, smelled of mildew if not mold, neglect if not outright abuse.

The living room floor looked like something the cat dragged in: Some feathers were all that remained, and the uncovered access to the crawl space seemed to be the feline's or some other critter's point of entry.
