BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A former Boise State defensive standout is rejoining the team — this time as a member of the coaching ranks.

Broncos officials say Byron Hout has taken a position as a graduate assistant and will be assigned to working with linebackers in the 2013 season.

Hout is a native of Coeur d'Alene and he played four years for the Broncos and was a starting linebacker during his junior and senior seasons. In his final year, Hout led the team in tackles with 69 and earned All-Conference honorable mention. He finished his career with 157 tackles and seven quarterback sacks.

After graduating last May, Hout served as a defensive graduate assistant at Washington State last season.
