Former Jenks standout Tramaine Thompson and former Midwest City star Timothy Flanders were among the local players honored on the BeyondSportsNetwork.com All-American teams released earlier this week.
Thompson, a senior wide receiver at Kansas State, was named to the Football Bowl Subdivision first team as a punt returner. He averaged 19.8 yards per return last season, returning one punt for a touchdown.
Flanders, who stars at Sam Houston State, was named to the Football Championship Subdivision first team at running back. Flanders rushed for 1,642 yards and 17 touchdowns last season and also had 128 yards and a touchdown receiving.
In addition to Thompson and Flanders on the first teams, Oklahoma’s Gabe Ikard and Aaron Colvin and Oklahoma State’s Calvin Barnett were named to the FBS second team. All are in-state players, with Ikard coming from Bishop McGuinness, Colvin from Owasso and Barnett from Tulsa Washington.
Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Ryan Corbin of Newcastle was the lone tight end on the Division II second team. Corbin caught 47 passes for 400 yards and a touchdown last season.
