The Washington Wizards have announced the hiring of David Adkins, an assistant on the University of Maryland women's basketball team.

Washington Post NBA writer Michael Lee reported that Maryland women's coach Brenda Frese asked on Twitter "Curious? Has any women's asst coach made the jump to @nba before?"

If you're a former coach of Kevin Durant, it's justified. Adkins was a longtime assistant coach at Maryland high school powers DeMatha and Montrose Christian. At Montrose, Adkins worked with Durant and Toronto Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez.

Vasquez recently re-signed with the Raptors, and has unabashedly pursued Durant to come to Canada in free agency.
