MINCO — A reserve officer for the Minco Police Department was terminated from his duties after his arrest on sexual assault complaints.
Brett Johnson, 26, was arrested Thursday on complaints of sexual battery and oral sodomy. He is accused of forcing a woman to perform sexual acts at an Oklahoma City apartment complex.
Johnson was off duty from the Minco force and working as a security guard at the Cottages Apartments, 1209 W Hefner Road, when police were called to the complex in reference to a disturbance, authorities said.
Police arrived about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, and a woman reported a security guard had taken her to an abandoned building at the apartment and forced her to perform sexual acts.
The woman said she and a friend were walking through the apartment complex when they saw the security guard, who later was identified as Johnson, police said. They started to leave, but Johnson told them to freeze, the woman told police.
Johnson had served as a reserve police officer for the Minco Police Department since the spring, said Capt. Brian Hau, who serves as watch commander.
In that capacity, Johnson had the same arrest powers as a police officer, although he was a volunteer, Hau said.
Johnson was terminated from the position after he was arrested, Hau said. He said he was made aware of the allegations against Johnson early Friday.
“They are very troubling and cause for concern, not only to those affected but to the city of Minco as well,” Hau wrote in a statement Monday. “In light of these allegations the officer has been relieved of his duties with the city of Minco.”
Johnson was booked in the Oklahoma County jail, where he was being held Monday on $55,000 bail.
