NORMAN — A former Norman teacher's aide has begun serving time in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of lewd molestation stemming from inappropriate incidents involving a 9-year-old boy.
Christopher Ray Flores, 31, was taken to prison by sheriff's deputies in January to begin serving two, concurrent seven-year prison sentences, Cleveland County District Court records show.
District Judge Lori Walkley, who sentenced Flores Jan. 9, also ordered him to serve 18 years on probation once he is released from prison.
Flores pleaded guilty in December to two counts of molesting a 9-year-old. According to court records, Flores admitted to touching the boy improperly on three occasions in 2012.
Flores worked as a teacher's aide in a classroom for children with special needs at Norman Public Schools from 2001 until the spring of 2010, when he resigned.
Norman Public School spokeswoman Shelly Hickman said the criminal allegations against Flores had nothing to do with the school district or his employment.
However, Flores was the subject of complaints lodged by parents during his tenure with the school district. Some of the complaints that he acted inappropriately and sometimes violently with students were discussed in three federal lawsuits filed against the Norman School District. The school district later reached confidential settlements in those lawsuits.
