SAYRE — A former Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper has been sentenced to three years in prison after he was convicted on two felony counts.

A judge sentenced Ronald Arganbright on Wednesday. According to state law, Arganbright must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
In April a judge found Arganbright guilty of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 and use of an electronic device to facilitate sexual conduct with a minor. Prosecutors claim Arganbright had sexual contact with a then-15-year-old girl and sent her text messages encouraging her to run away with him.
Arganbright's attorneys tell a local newspaper that they plan to appeal.
Arganbright was fired in 2011 after an OHP investigation.
