Two-time Oklahoma girls’ basketball state champion Taylor Cooper will transfer from Oral Roberts to Texas A&M, her father Jeff said Tuesday.
Cooper, a 6-foot forward, started all 31 games last season as a true freshman at ORU, averaging 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. The Golden Eagles won the Southland Conference Tournament and lost to Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
She ended her prolific high-school career with back-to-back state championships. Cooper led Bethel to the Class 3A state title as a junior before moving to Shawnee as a senior and winning the Class 5A championship.
After her senior season, Cooper was named to The Oklahoman’s Super 5 team.
At Texas A&M, she’ll join fellow 2012 Super 5 player Courtney Walker, who just finished her freshman season with the Aggies. Walker was a two-time Oklahoman Super 5 Player of the Year.
The Aggies won last year’s SEC Tournament in their first season in the league. Cooper will sit out the 2013-14 season, per NCAA rules, and have three seasons of eligibility beginning in 2014-15.
