Former Oklahoma newspaper city editor Mathew “Kuyk” Kuykendall Logan dies

Mathew “Kuyk” Kuykendall Logan, 80, was the city editor of The Daily Oklahoman in the 1960s. He died in his Texas home Friday.

A longtime Oklahoma journalist and former city editor at The Daily Oklahoman in the 1960s has died.

Mathew “Kuyk” Kuykendall Logan was 80. He died Friday at his home in The Woodlands, Texas.

Logan was born and raised in Norman and earned his degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma. His long career in newspaper journalism included stops at The San Angelo Standard-Times, The Oklahoma City Times, The Daily Oklahoman and The Houston Post. Logan taught college journalism classes part time at OU, Oklahoma City University and the University of Central Oklahoma.

Logan also worked 11 years in communications for the 45th Infantry Division of the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, Texas.
