“Part of our focus is to write great stories with strong and realistic roles for girls and women,” Chu said. “We're not shy about saying that, and we've gotten nothing but great support from people within the comics community. Not all the stories are about women, but we just feel like we need to represent.”
Since Alpha Girl's debut, the company has published the sci-fi mystery “Meridien City” Nos. 1 and 2; “A Visit to the Museum of Chinese in America” and “Girls Night Out” No. 1.
Several artists from the first “Girls Night Out” will return for “Tales of New York.”
“Many of artists are from my first anthology — I pick artists for what they bring to the specific story and characters first and foremost, but I also like to work with friends,” Chu said. “It makes it more fun and personal.”
Chu's Kickstarter campaign runs through 2 a.m. Dec. 17. You can contribute or find out more at: www.kickstarter.com/projects/amychu/girls-night-out-tales-of-new-york.
