With a pair of late first round picks in the June 26th draft, the Thunder is doing its due diligence of late, working out several potential prospects.
And among those to perform in front of the OKC brass was former Oklahoma State guard Markel Brown, a source told The Oklahoman.
The high-flying four-year guard, who transformed into a steady scorer and solid defender during his productive career in Stillwater, was in OKC earlier this week and apparently impressed in the session.
But he’s far from the only guy the Thunder has brought in over the past few weeks. Despite a team policy to typically keep the names under wraps, a few have leaked through various outlets. Among those reported to work out for the Thunder:
Of those who the Thunder has reportedly brought in, Anderson is the highest-rated prospect. In mock drafts, he’s projected a bit higher than OKC’s picks (21 and 29), meaning the Thunder would likely have to move up to snag him.
The others on are, at best, viewed as late first rounders or early second rounders, in OKC’s range.
The Thunder has plenty of options in this draft and is not likely to use both of its picks because first rounders are given guaranteed roster spots and OKC, already stacked with plenty of youth, doesn’t have two to give away.
Plenty of moving parts with an important draft day rapidly approaching.
