A former volunteer fire chief from Peggs was indicted Thursday by the state's multicounty grand jury on one count of embezzlement and 16 counts of delivery of a forged note or instrument.
Roger D. Fine, 54, was chief of the Peggs Volunteer Fire Department in northeast Oklahoma. The grand jury accused Fine of embezzling $4,725 in part to support a gambling habit.
The indictment accuses Fine of forging signatures on the department's checks and embezzling money between August 2009 and November 2012.
