— Former Oklahoma State running back Herschel Sims is transferring to Lamar University, according to activity on his Facebook page Saturday night.

Sims changed his public profile to say he was studying at Lamar and lived in Beaumont, Texas, where the Football Championship Subdivision school is located.

Sims was charged with two felony counts of second-degree forgery on June 5, four days after he was dismissed from the OSU program by head coach Mike Gundy. The charges stem from an April incident where Sims allegedly took the ID card of former teammate Jeremiah Tshimanga, accessed his Stillwater National Bank account and made two withdrawals of $500 and $200, according to the police report. Sims pleaded not guilty to both felony charges on June 21 and is scheduled to appear at the Payne County Courthouse at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

During his arraignment on June 21, Sims' attorney, Rebecca King, said Sims no longer attended OSU and planned to transfer a school in Texas in the fall.

Sims, a former five-star recruit from Abilene, Texas, tallied 31 carries for 242 yards and two touchdowns as a true freshman in 2011. He was the Cowboys' third-string running back and was expected to fill a similar role in 2012 before being dismissed.

Sims would become the third former OSU player to transfer to Lamar this summer, joining wide receiver Kevin Johnson and defensive lineman Joe Okafor. Because Lamar is an FCS school, he would be eligible to play right away as a true sophomore.

Lamar is scheduled to play OSU in Stillwater in 2013.
