Former Oklahoma State football star Rashaun Woods is in line to become the next head coach at John Marshall High School, pending approval by the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education, sources told The Oklahoman on Wednesday.

OKCPS athletic director Keith Sinor could not confirm Woods' hiring, but said “the hiring process is in its final stages.”

The OKC Board of Education is scheduled to meet Tuesday night, when it is expected to vote on the approval of Woods' hiring, sources said.

Former Mustang coach Todd Dilbeck, currently working at the high school level in Arkansas, had also been in the running for the position, according to sources.

Over the last five seasons, Woods has spent time as an assistant coach at Star Spencer and his alma mater, Millwood. He has also worked as a color commentator for various high school football broadcasts, while also continuing to pursue his professional fishing career.

Woods could not be reached for comment. He will replace Bruce Troxell, who resigned after six seasons coaching the Bears. John Marshall went 0-10 in a tumultuous 2012 season.

For his career at Oklahoma State, Woods had 4,414 receiving yards and 42 touchdowns on 293 catches. He was the first-round pick of San Francisco in the 2004 NFL Draft. He spent time in the NFL and Canadian Football League ending his professional playing career in 2008.
