Kevin Wilson was a successful offensive coordinator at OU in the 2000s, and now he's trying to build a program at Indiana.

In the process, Wilson is speaking out about the Big 12 and independent schools such as Notre Dame. Wilson sat down at ESPN for the Big Ten's "Car Wash" circuit on Thursday, and gave his thoughts on conferences who don't have to play championship games.

Wilson compares the Big 12 and Notre Dame not having a 13th game to a golfer playing only 17 holes. "They post (a) score but didn't have to play No. 18," Wilson said.

But is it really fair for Wilson to say this, particularly when Notre Dame and schools in the Big 12 -- Oklahoma, for example -- are playing tougher non-conference schedules than the Hoosiers? For example:

Also, factor in that teams in conferences with championship games (Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Pac 12) aren't required to play every team in their conference during the season, and you get schedule imbalances.

So who has it right -- conferences with championship games, or conferences in which every team plays each other at least once during the season? Who has the advantage?
