Bo Bolinger, one of the “B Boys” from Muskogee who helped form much of the nucleus of Bud Wilkinson's great Oklahoma football teams of the 1950s, died Friday .
Bolinger was a 1955 consensus all-American guard. He, Max Boydston and the Burris brothers, Kurt and Bob, played on the 1954 undefeated Sooner team after being teammates at Muskogee High School. The '55 Sooners also went unbeaten and won the national championship, with Bolinger a key to an offensive line that helped OU lead the nation in rushing. Bolinger finished ninth in the '55 Heisman Trophy voting.
Bolinger spent 30 years working for NFL Cardinals, 1971-00, primarily as a scout, and then scouted for the Tennessee Titans. Bolinger also coached 11 years in college and two years in the Canadian Football League, where he played.
