NFL Draft: Former Sooner Kenny Stills selected by the Saints

Drew Brees has another weapon, this one coming from Sooner land.

Former OU wide receiver Kenny Stills was drafted by the New Orleans Saints on Saturday, going in the middle of the fifth round (144th overall).

He joins a talented wide receiver corps, which includes Marques Colston and Lance Moore, that has been highly productive the past five seasons, with a quarterback who loves to spread the ball.

“I tell you what, he transitioned quickly from high school to Oklahoma immediately as a true freshman,” ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said of Stills. “(He made) 61 catches right away and five touchdowns. Then you expected maybe more than you got. The inconsistency really hurt Kenny Stills, didn’t allow him to move up into that first couple rounds category. It really makes you wonder, is he going to be reliable moving forward? Then he ran that 4.38 at the combined, which I though really helped him. In the fifth round, if he can become consistent and eliminate those lapses in concentration, maybe the New Orleans Saints have something here with Kenny Stills.”
