After one unproductive and controversial season, the New York Jets on Wednesday finally decided to release troubled running back Mike Goodson, whose NFL future is clouded by a gun-possession charge in New Jersey.
Goodson, a former standout at Texas A&M (as well as a one-time Oklahoma State commitment), faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of a gun possession charge.
The Jets signed Goodson in March 2013 despite numerous red flags, including paternity and child support suits by three women from August 2010 to May 2011. Goodson also was suspended four games last season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
