Authorities say 22-year-old Michael Jeffries was arrested Thursday after a state medical examiner's report noted the injuries suffered by 22-month-old Vincent Johnson were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Lawton Police Capt. Will Hines says prosecutors filed the murder charge against the soldier, who is from Texas. Jeffries' arraignment is set for Friday.

Lawton police say Jeffries called 911 on Oct. 6 to report that his son was ill, but doctors at a Lawton hospital told police of the baby's injuries. The child died a week later.

Police detectives say Jeffries told them he didn't know what happened to the baby. Court records do not list an attorney for Jeffries.
