TICONDEROGA, N.Y. (AP) — Fort Ticonderoga is featuring new exhibits and activities that offer visitors a glimpse into how 18th-century soldiers dressed, what they carried into battle and how they were treated when wounded.

The historic site overlooking Lake Champlain in the southeastern Adirondacks opens for the season Saturday.

This year, the fort's staff will be portraying the Pennsylvania troops who garrisoned the fort in 1776, a year after the American Revolution started. They'll show visitors how American soldiers spent their days guarding a wilderness outpost against attacks by the British.

The new exhibits in the fort's museum include a display of the fort's extensive collection of 18th-century military clothing. Other exhibits will highlight the weapons soldiers used during the era and how sickness and battlefield wounds were treated at the fort.
