Dr. Rodney Pat Steffen, 60, founder and former chief executive officer of My Dentist, has died.

Founded by Steffen in 1983, My Dentist has 37 clinic locations across Oklahoma and in Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas, providing general dentistry and orthodontics services.

Kevin Offel took the reins of the Oklahoma City-based company this month as Steffen underwent treatment for cancer. Steffen died Saturday.

“We will honor Dr. Steffen's memory by tirelessly dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much — improving people's lives through the delivery of exceptional patient care and customer service,” Offel said. “I have absolute confidence that My Dentist will continue to achieve the growth and success that we have grown accustomed to since Dr. Steffen built this business nearly 30 years ago, and I am honored to carry on his legacy.”

Steffen's niece, Jennifer Chambers, is the company's chief dental director.

“Dr. Steffen was a one-of-a-kind visionary and master of his profession who made a remarkable impact on the dental industry and on the lives of the many people he inspired and influenced through his relentless drive to provide the best patient care that modern dentistry could offer,” she said.

Steffen is survived by his wife, Sandra, granddaughter Haley and numerous other relatives. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary, 13125 N MacArthur, with a wake service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 7336 W Britton Road.
