Founding Fathers had reason to include Second Amendment

Published: July 25, 2012

What happened in the Aurora, Colo., movie theater is tragic. No doubt, the anti-gun lobby will again be assaulting the Second Amendment, wanting to eliminate all forms of firearms. But there was a reason the Founding Fathers included this in the initial writing of the Constitution. The soldiers of King George III were under orders to confiscate all the firearms they could. Evidently, George was concerned there might be a rebellion and he didn't want his Redcoats to face an irate, armed populace. As we all know, the end result (for George) was disastrous.
