The car with five passengers was going south when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and the car left the roadway, went into a ditch and overturned.

Passengers Ryan M. Berard, 19, of Carthage, Mo.; Samuel M. Mitchell, 22, of Joplin, Mo.; John H. Harmon, 21, of Joplin, Mo.; and Cameron H. Clark, 21, of Joplin, Mo., were not injured.

The name of the driver was not released pending an investigation, the patrol reported. The patrol did not provide any information about seat belt use by those in the car.

Robert Lee White, 67, of Guthrie

White died at the scene of a crash about 4:15 p.m. Monday on State Highway 77 at the Cimarron River bridge north of Guthrie, according to the patrol report.

A pickup driven north on SH 77 by Jeffrey Dale Harber, 37, of Crescent, was hit by a car driven south by White, the patrol reported. White apparently swerved left of center, the patrol reported. He was dead at the scene due to massive internal injuries. Harber refused treatment at the scene.

White and Harber wore seat belts.
