Four die of injuries from wrecks on Oklahoma roads

Four people are dead after crashes on state roads.

A woman, whose name had not been released Thursday evening, died after she drove the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Morgan Road about 2 a.m. Thursday, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said.

Her car hit a tractor-trailer head-on and caught fire. It took emergency crews more than six hours to remove the wreckage from the road and reopen all lanes of I-40.

Charlie Bird, 67, of Claremore

Bird died after a wreck about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday in Rogers County, troopers said.

Bird was southbound on county road North/South 420 when he tried to turn east on State Highway 20 and drove into the path of a pickup driven by Misty Kay Edwards-Matheso, 40, of Claremore.

Bird was taken to a Claremore hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Edwards-Matheso and her passenger, Beverlee Caraway, 12, of Claremore, both were treated for minor injuries and released. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing seat belts, troopers said.

Yvette M. Wolf, 32, of Wagoner

Wolf died in a wreck on U.S. 69 about half a mile south of Wagoner.
