A prosecutor and three defense attorneys are being considered for the position of special judge in Oklahoma County, The Oklahoman has learned.

Assistant District Attorney Susan Johnson and defense attorneys Myong Chung, Jerry Day and Kevin McCray are in the running to replace Stephen P. Alcorn, whose last day as special judge was Wednesday.

Alcorn, 46, resigned last month after eight years on the bench to take a job as Montrose, Colo., city attorney.

The county's 15 district judges selected the four finalists from a field of 53 applicants. The panel is expected to interview the finalists Friday and vote on a replacement.

Johnson, of Edmond, is a former prosecutor with the state attorney general's office. Chung, of Norman, and McCray, of Oklahoma City, practice mainly criminal defense. Day, of Edmond, handles civil and family matters.

Special Judge Donald Easter is expected to assume Alcorn's former role and handle criminal felony dockets, including preliminary hearings.

The newest special judge will likely handle the protective order docket.
