Four Oklahoma businesses receive BBB awards

The Better Business Bureau of Central Oklahoma recognized businesses that provide outstanding customer service and ethical conduct at an awards ceremony Thursday at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

“Too often, consumers think of the BBB as the place to bring their complaints.

It's important to know that there are plenty of local companies doing things right, and the Better Business Bureau's Torch Awards remind everyone of that,” said bureau President Bob Manista.

At the event, the bureau also unveiled The Oklahoma Torchlight Foundation, an educational foundation that will serve as the charitable arm of the bureau to teach the public to avoid scams and promote wise buying and giving standards.

Four entities were named 2012 Torch Award winners:

• Jerry Brown, an attorney and counselor at law specializing in bankruptcy law — for compassionately guiding consumers through the bankruptcy process and making sure they are better prepared to deal with life after the court actions are done.
