Sam Bradford has a chance to become the first QB to lead his team to two Big 12 championships. In last year’s Big 12 title game, Bradford threw for 209 yards and two TDs in a 38-17 win over Missouri.
Who from OU deserves to be on the All-Big 12 team?
Ballots were due Sunday for the AP’s All-Big 12 team.
Below are my thoughts on which OU players are deserving of making the team.
Offensively, quarterback Sam Bradford, center Jon Cooper, guard Duke Robinson, tight end Jermaine Gresham and running back/all-purpose back DeMarco Murray deserve to be on the first team.
Bradford deserves to win offensive player of the year.
Tackles Trent Williams and Phil Loadholt and wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias merit second-team consideration. At third in the league in rushing, so does running back Chris Brown.
Defensively, tackle Gerald McCoy, end Jeremy Beal, linebacker Travis Lewis and cornerback Dominique Franks deserve to be on the first team.
McCoy deserves to win defensive player of the year. Lewis deserves to be the defensive newcomer of the year.
Strong safety Nic Harris, linebacker Keenan Clayton, cornerback Brian Jackson and free safety Lendy Holmes merit second-team consideration.
