DUNCAN — A fourth person has been charged in the fatal drive-by shooting of Australian baseball player Christopher Lane.

Oddesse John David Barnes, 22, was charged Monday with accessory to first-degree murder after the fact.

He is accused of concealing the .22-caliber revolver used in the shooting.

Three other defendants, Michael Dewayne Jones, 18; Chancey Allen Luna, 16; and James Francis Edwards Jr., 16; are charged with first-degree murder.

All four are from Duncan.

Lane, 22, was shot in the back while jogging Aug. 16. He was a senior on a baseball scholarship at East Central University in Ada. He was in Duncan visiting his girlfriend.

Edwards testified in February at a preliminary hearing that Luna fired the gun from a car driven by Jones.

Prosecutors have agreed to dismiss the murder charge against Edwards in exchange for his continuing cooperation. Under the deal, Edwards will be prosecuted instead as an accessory to first-degree murder after the fact.

Authorities suspected last August that Barnes had been given the revolver at the Elm Terrace Apartments after the shooting because of statements Jones made to police.

Barnes was questioned in August but did not disclose then that the gun had been in his possession, according to a court affidavit.
