On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence, which set the 13 colonies on their way to becoming one free, sovereign nation. The population then? Two and a half million. Today, it's 304 million.

31 Number of places across the country with ‘Liberty' in their name, including Liberty, OK, in Tulsa County. Libertyville, New Liberty, North Liberty and West Liberty are all in Iowa. Liberty, Mo., is the most populous ‘Liberty' with 29,581 residents as of July 1, 2006.

31 Number of places in the United States with ‘Eagle' in their name, including Eagle City, OK, in Blaine County and Eagletown, OK, in McCurtain County. Eagle Pass, Texas, has the most people with 26,401.

12 Number of places with ‘Independence' in their name. Independence, Mo., has the most people at 109,400 residents.

9 Number of places with ‘Freedom' in their name, including Freedom, OK, in Woods County. Freedom, Calif., has the highest population with its 6,000 residents.

5 Number of places with ‘America' in their name, including America, OK, in McCurtain County. American Fork, Utah, has the most residents out of those with a population of 25,596.

1 Place in the U.S. with ‘Patriot' in its name. Patriot, Ind., has a population of 192.
