OU starting defensive end Frank Alexander returned to practice Monday, after missing Saturday's game with Utah State and all of practice last week with a sprained ankle.

Alexander, who had seven tackles for loss last season, is expected to play Saturday against Florida State.

Taylor feeling good

Defensive tackle Adrian Taylor's return from a broken ankle went better than expected.

Taylor didn't record a tackle but got in for about 30 plays. He said he "got stronger as the game went along."

Taylor had to sit out a day of practice last week resting his ankle and a sore back, but he was back on the practice field Monday despite the extensive contact over the weekend.

"I'm still not where I want to be," Taylor said. "But (the debut) went better than I had expected it to."

Jefferson solid in debut

One of the bright spots of Saturday's game was the first-time performance of true freshman safety Tony Jefferson.

OU started the game defensively with Jefferson in the nickelback and stayed in the alignment for most of the game.
