Published: October 25, 2008

The Norman Regional Heath System has scheduled two drive-through flu shot clinics for next month.

Free flu vaccinations for adults will be given starting at 8 a.m. Nov. 8 at Moore Medical Center, 700 S Telephone Road; and 9 a.m. Nov. 15 at the Norman Regional HealthPlex, Tecumseh Road and Interstate 35.

Organizers say the events will happen rain or shine and until 500 vaccines are given at Moore Medical Center and 1,100 are given at the HealthPlex.

Because of dosage variations, pregnant women and anyone under 18 will not be vaccinated.

Participants should wear short-sleeved shirts. Carpooling is encouraged to minimize traffic.

Nurses will administer the vaccine while participants remain in their vehicles.

Those seeking a flu shot should first check with their physicians if they are allergic to eggs, chicken or chicken feathers; have a sensitivity to thimerosal; have received any other type of vaccine in the past 14 days; or have a fever, acute respiratory or other active infections from an illness.

The clinics are sponsored by Norman Regional Health Foundation.
