KEEP OKLAHOMA BEAUTIFUL Published: April 24, 2012
Do you have old electronics you want to get rid of but don't know how or where?

Here's the answer.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, you can dispose of such items as computers, TVs, stereos and cell phones at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. The event is open to all Oklahomans and you don't have to have a utility bill to participate.

The eCycling crew will remove all acceptable electronic products from trunks and pickup beds. You don't even have to get out of your vehicle. Any products that are not acceptable for eCycling will be left int he vehicle.

Accepted materials include: laptop computers; computer monitors; computer peripherals; fax machines; printers; photocopiers; VCRs (not VCR tapes); home and office phones; consumer electronic such as DVD players and alarm clocks; televisions; monitors; stereos; and cell phones.

Items that will not be accepted include: microwaves; smoke alarms and detector; thermometers; dehumidifiers; large appliances such as refrigerators; non-decontaminated medical equipment; or any unit with sludge or liquids.

To get there from Interstate 44, take the NW 10 exit and follow the signs to the drop-off site.

The event is sponsored by LG, WM Waste Management; the City of Oklahoma City, Keep America Beautiful and Keep Oklahoma Beautiful.

If you would like to volunteer to help, such as directing traffic or in the hospitality tent, call Sonny Wilkinson at 286-9141, or

As much as possible, the items will be recycled.
