Oklahoma City will offer free fishing next month during National Fishing Week.
The Free Fishing Days event will be June 7 and June 8 at locations across Oklahoma City including: Crystal Lake, 6625 SW 15; Dolese Youth Park Pond, NW 50 and Meridian; Edwards Park Pond, 1515 N Bryant; Kids Lake, 3200 W Wilshire Blvd.; Kitchen Lake, 5501 SE 119; Route 66 Park, 3350 W Overholser and South Lakes Regional Park, 4302 SW 119.
The Close to Home fishing program is a cooperative effort between the city and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
With the exception of the Free Fishing Days, a state fishing license and city fishing permit are required for all those ages 16 to 62, unless otherwise exempt. Daily permits are $3.50 and annual permits are $18.50.
Anglers are required to follow state and city fishing regulations. Habitat maps and fishing regulation brochures are available at all city fishing permit vendors and the H.B. Parsons Fish Hatchery or by calling 755-4014.
