Each year, employees who work in downtown Oklahoma City look forward to taking a little break from work on Free Ice Cream Day. Taking place on today, Friday, September 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Free Ice Cream Day is presented by Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc. to highlight the benefits of working in the city’s central core and to thank employees and businesses owners for doing business downtown.

“Downtown businesses bring so much energy and life into the heart of the city,” said Downtown OKC, Inc.’s event coordinator, Elizabeth Newton. “We want to not only thank these businesses for helping our city thrive, but give hard-working employees an opportunity to meet our staff and enjoy a sweet treat.”

Downtown employees may visit the Free Ice Cream Day tent on the East side of Leadership Square (211 N. Robinson), or have their treat delivered right to their workplace door by a fleet of Smart cars, courtesy of Smart Center of Oklahoma City. The Smart cars will be equipped with GPS trackers provided by U.S. Fleet Tracking so participants can follow their location on

Free Ice Cream Day is a free event hosted by Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc., open to all downtown employees. This year’s ice cream treat lineup includes Drumsticks, Klondike bars, Mars ice cream bars, and fruit bars.
