Regarding “Robber of Ersland's pharmacy completes his time in custody” (News, Sept. 4): We're releasing a convicted murderer who with his companion sought to rob a pharmacist of cash and drugs. At the same time, the pharmacist who stopped the two robbers from completing the crime is languishing in jail because he shot and killed the second robber. Of course the pharmacist was scared. He lost it, his adrenaline pumping and his judgment impaired at the moment. He may have seen a muscle spasm in the downed robber and thought he and his co-workers were still at risk.

If you've never confronted a burglar in your home or business and known the terror and shock of such a time, you don't have the right to judge the pharmacist. Let Ersland go free. Let justice prevail.
