Freshman running back Roy Finch will finally make debut Saturday

NORMAN — The scariest part of Oklahoma's banner freshman class?

The player most impressive in August has yet to step on the field.

Saturday, the coaches say, he finally will.

Freshman running back Roy Finch is expected to make his long-awaited debut after sitting out the first five games with a hairline fractured ankle he suffered less than two weeks before the season opener.

"You are going to enjoy watching him play," said freshman safety Tony Jefferson. "His moves are Reggie Bush-like."

As good as Jefferson and Aaron Colvin and Trey Millard and Kenny Stills have been, none turned heads the way the 5-foot-8, 180-pound cross between Quentin Griffin and Kendall Hunter did in the preseason.

"In two-a-days early, I said, 'Man, that's Quentin Griffin,'" offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said. "The response from (assistants Cale Gundy and Josh Heupel) was, 'That's Quentin Griffin, but faster.'

"He's got a lot of speed and change of direction and suddenness in space. We'll see how he comes back. But he looked awfully good in preseason."

It's unclear just how big an impact Finch will make the rest of the season, considering he just returned to practice last week.
