Passing game carries Yukon past Norman North

Yukon, ranked No. 10 in Class 6A, got a big second half from quarterback Corben Jones to beat Norman North 35-17.

Jones' brother, Terry Jones, one of the top rushers in 6A, scored the Millers' first TD on a 36-yard run but got hurt in the second quarter. The extent of the injury wasn't known.

Yukon (4-1, 1-1 District 6A-1) trailed 17-14 early in the third quarter. Then Corben Jones hit Kollin Retter on a 53-yard scoring pass. He added a 20-yard TD run in the fourth quarter and closed out the scoring with a 23-yard pass to Eric Granada in the final minute.

Jones was 17-of-24 for 260 yards.

"In the second quarter it seemed like we kind of got in a lull," Yukon coach Todd Wilson told KSBI. "In the second half we came out and took it to 'em. We played well up front."

Norman North falls to 1-4 and 0-2.

Hennessey's ground game was too much for Alva as the Eagles rolled to their second straight Class 2A-1 victory.

Sophomore Levi Hill ran for 211 yards on 30 carries and scored twice, and Ivan Moreno had 138 yards and two TDs. Hennessey (3-2, 2-0) scored the game's first 33 points and finished with 394 yards rushing.

Moreno added an interception return for a touchdown.

Harrah controlled McLoud from the start and got a big performance from quarterback Eddie Reynolds to remain unbeaten with a 35-13 victory.

Reynolds scored on a 33-yard run in the first quarter, threw TD passes of 33 and 11 yards in the second, then scored on a short run in the third as the Panthers took a 28-0 lead.
