For parts of Oklahoma, Friday may be one of the last sunny, warm days for a while.

The National Weather Service said skies should be clear and temperatures should run above average for this time of year ahead of an early fall storm.

Remnants of Hurricane Norbert are forecast to ride northward beginning Friday and arrive in Texas and Oklahoma this weekend, just as an upper-level system strengthens and tracks toward the southern Plains, according to the weather service.

Moisture from the once-powerful Category 4 storm is expected to mix with the storm and dump rain on western sections of the state as early as Saturday. Central and eastern Oklahoma are expected to receive precipitation starting Monday. A slow-moving cold front could keep rain in the forecast through Tuesday.

On Thursday, skies were mostly clear and temperatures were mostly in the 80s, ranging from 80 in Bartlesville and Muskogee to 86 in Stillwater. The high was 82 degrees in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

Mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s are expected on Friday. Partly cloudy skies and lows 50s and 60s are expected Friday night.

The rain-starved Oklahoma Panhandle will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, but partly cloudy conditions are expected elsewhere. Highs should top out in the 70s and 80s, according to the weather service.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected Sunday through Tuesday, with rain chances spreading into western Oklahoma by Sunday. Highs should reach the 70s and 80s and lows should dip into the 60s Sunday night.

Western and northern Oklahoma will have a chance of showers and storms early Monday, then showers and thunderstorms are possible statewide, forecasters said. Highs should range from the low 60s in the Panhandle to the low 80s in southeastern Oklahoma.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely statewide before sunrise Tuesday, then storm chances shift into eastern Oklahoma, according to the weather service.

Temperatures should peak in the 60s and 70s before ranging from the low 40s in the Panhandle to around 60 in the southeast.
