FSN analysts: OU a 'legitimate title contender'

Not only did the OU running back DeMarco Murray set the OU career touchdown record Saturday night, he ran over an FSN cameraman on the sidelines in the first half. FSN replayed the cameraman's feed, which went green after the hit.

The cameraman was not hurt, but play-by-play announcer Bill Land joked, "Oh, the worker's comp, I can see it now. How's the back?"

In the fourth quarter, Murray broke Steve Owens' touchdown record on a 10-yard run.

"What a great run for the record," analyst Joel Klatt said. "It showcased all the things that he does well — the speed, the vision, the elusiveness."

In the first half, quarterback Landry Jones and wide receiver Ryan Broyles put up impressive stats that Klatt said were "almost like a highlight film" as the Sooners took a 31-0 halftime lead.

"This team is a legitimate title contender that is continuing to get better," he said. "This was their most complete victory."

FSN PLUS SOLID

For the OSU-Texas Tech game that was picked up at the last minute, FSN Plus put together a makeshift broadcast team of St. Louis Cardinals TV announcer Dan McLaughlin, analyst Gary Reasons, who normally is in the studio, and sideline reporter Erin Bajackson.

The three called a solid game. Reasons, a former Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz coach, was well-versed on the Cowboys, who won for the first time in Lubbock since 1944.

"This team is different from the other teams that have come here," he said. "The defense is really committed and they played lights out."

Reasons compared OSU star receiver Justin Blackmon, who had a career-high 207 receiving yards, to former Cowboys standout Rashaun Woods.
