Fuel truck catches fire in north Edmond, burns field

A fuel truck in north Edmond caught fire Friday afternoon

Edmond fire crews are working to extinguish a fire started by a fuel truck north of Edmond.

The fuel truck caught fire about 5:30 p.m. Friday and spread to a field near Western Avenue and W Charter Oak Road, fire officials said.

Thick black smoke rose from the area that could be seen for miles.

Officials did not know what caused the truck to catch on fire and did not say whether there were any injuries.
