Former Oklahoma center and current Tennessee Titans rookie Gabe Ikard will conduct private lessons with offensive linemen throughout July while he’s back home in Oklahoma City.

“I am making the most of my time off in the month of July,” Ikard said in an email. “I am conducting these private lessons in order to teach young linemen the knowledge that I have acquired over my football career. My goal is teach them the importance of proper and safe technique, hard work, and a positive attitude.

“I have always enjoyed working with young people and feel obligated to utilize my platform as a football player to influence them in a positive way.”

The lessons will be at Bishop McGuinness High School in Oklahoma City. Ikard’s lessons are available anytime after 1 p.m. on most days through July 24, when the Titans’ training camp begins.

Lessons are one hour each and cost $50.

There won’t be any contact with other athletes; rather, linemen who attend these sessions will practice with bags, shields and dummies.

Ikard, a first-team All-American last season as a senior at OU, started 50 games on the offensive line throughout his collegiate career. He came to OU from McGuinnss as a tight end, but switched to the line during his redshirt season in 2009.
