Alicia Oldham, a doctoral student in occupational therapy from Creighton University, is working with J. D. McCarty Center patient Julio Regalado, Jr. on switch activation to learn cause and affect awareness. From this training Regalado will eventually learn to turn on and off things like a television, radio or augmentative communications device. Regalado was one of the patients Oldham worked with during her 12-week pediatric clinical rotation at the J. D. McCarty Center in Norman, Oklahoma. The McCarty Center is a pediatric rehab hospital specializing in the care and treatment of children with developmental disabilities.
