HISTORIC EARLY DAYS / OKLAHOMA CITY, OK / STATE FAIR: "The opening will be characterized by brevity -- scarcely an hour and a half long," stated the newspaper article, a little bit apologetically. Well -- that was a brief opening considering the time and the event. It was October 5, 1907, and it was the first great State Fair of Oklahoma. Furthermore, either in spite of, or because of, that hour-plus opening, it was an event-packed, excitement-rousing and well attended as this year's fair.
