Mark Saunders stands in the opening created when last November's earthquake heavily damaged this turret that graced the southeast corner of Benedictine Hall on the St. Gregory's campus in Shawnee. All four turrets were dismantled and removed from the building. Repairs are expected to be made starting in the summer. Saunders is the university's physical plant director. St. Gregory’s University students, faculty and staff participated Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, in the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut, which is a multi?state earthquake drill. Many classes and administrative offices practiced the recommend actions during an earthquake – drop, cover, and hold on. More than 2 million people across nine states in the central U.S. signed up to participate via the organization’s website. Benedictine Hall, the main academic and administrative building at SGU, was badly damaged as a result of the 5.6 magnitude quake that struck Oklahoma in November.
